Walnut is a timber subspecies used within the architecture and construction industry, favoured for its adaptability. Walnut often features a smooth surface ranging from light, pale brown to a dark chocolate colour. Typically holding a straight, linear grain, walnut is a popular timber for internal applications such as furniture, interior cladding and paneling, and smaller wooden products. Walnut’s high cost often prevents it being used for larger external applications such as building facades.
This texture uses a running pattern also known as a stretcher bond. The stretcher bond is one of the most common bonds used in masonry construction and uses stretchers, bricks laid flat with their long edge parallel to the wall. Each alternating course is offset by a half stretcher.
