Timber has traditionally been charred to create a fine layer of carbon along its surface, which enhances its fire resistance, and improves it durability. In addition, the charred finish has become a desirable product within contemporary architecture and construction, adding a rustic, industrial vibe to cladding, facades, floors, and furniture.
