A seamless wood texture with knotted timber veneer arranged in a stretcher pattern. The image represents a physical area of 404 x 808 mm (15.9 x 31.8 inches) in total, with each individual board measuring approximately 200 x 200 mm. The joints are filled with fine lime mortar and are 2 mm (0.1 inches) in width.
Similar in colour to beach, ash or white oak, this heavily knotted wood texture is suitable for furniture, panelling, cupboards and doors. Knotted wood is any wood which contains a high proportion of knots. Knots occur in wood where branches are present in the source tree. Knots negatively affect the strength of wood and make it more difficult to work with. Wood with many knots is therefore generally graded lower than a comparable species with less knots. The resulting irregular pattern within the grain is a desirable product for some, and hence is used commonly in architecture and construction. Wood products containing knots can be polished, weathered, or smoothed, and can be stained to create a variety of finishes. Knotted timber is used in cladding, facades, flooring, landscape decking, and interior design. This veneer is comprised of real thin-sawn, cut or peeled strips from the origin tree’s trunk which, when layered together over a backing board such as particleboard or MDF, form highly unique patterns.
This texture uses a running pattern also known as a stretcher bond. The stretcher bond is one of the most common bonds used in masonry construction and uses stretchers, bricks laid flat with their long edge parallel to the wall. Each alternating course is offset by a half stretcher.
This image is seamless, meaning it can be tiled repeatedly for use in architectural drawings and 3D models. It can be used as a SketchUp texture, Revit material or imported into Photoshop for use in 2D illustrations.
