Walnut Ashlar

A seamless wood texture with walnut arranged in a ashlar pattern. The image represents a physical area of 4331 x 2187 mm (170.5 x 86.1 inches) in total, with each individual board measuring approximately 1200 x 200 mm. The joints are filled with mortar and are 2 mm (0.1 inches) in width.

Walnut is a timber subspecies used within the architecture and construction industry, favoured for its adaptability. Walnut often features a smooth surface ranging from light, pale brown to a dark chocolate colour. Typically holding a straight, linear grain, walnut is a popular timber for internal applications such as furniture, interior cladding and paneling, and smaller wooden products. Walnut's high cost often prevents it being used for larger external applications such as building facades.

This texture uses a random coursed ashlar pattern, where the height of each row and the width of each block varies. Coursed ashlar is found on many historical stone facades as well as in contemporary stonemasonry.
