A seamless wood texture with knotted timber boards arranged in a staggered pattern

Description

A seamless wood texture with knotted timber boards arranged in a staggered pattern. The image represents a physical area of 1260 x 1999 mm (49.6 x 78.7 inches) in total, with each individual board measuring approximately 1000 x 40mm. The joints are filled with mortar and are 0 mm (0 inches) in width.

Knotted wood is any wood which contains a high proportion of knots. Knots occur in wood where branches are present in the source tree. Knots negatively affect the strength of wood and make it more difficult to work with. Wood with many knots is therefore generally graded lower than a comparable species with less knots. The resulting irregular pattern within the grain is a desirable product for some, and hence is used commonly in architecture and construction. Wood products containing knots can be polished, weathered, or smoothed, and can be stained to create a variety of finishes. Knotted timber is used in cladding, facades, flooring, landscape decking, and interior design.

This texture uses a staggered pattern, in which each row is offset at random from the last. Staggered patterns are often found in brickwork, stonemasonry and in wood flooring layouts.

This image is seamless, meaning it can be tiled repeatedly for use in architectural drawings and 3D models. It can be used as a SketchUp texture, Revit material or imported into Photoshop for use in 2D illustrations. You can download a high resolution version of this texture and a matching bump map or CAD hatch (compatible with AutoCAD and Revit) using Architextures Create with a Pro Subscription.
